FIRE Escape: Spring Dates and Location CONFIRMED!

Wow, that’s a big head!

I’ve moved things on quite rapidly with this upcoming Spring’s FIRE Escape. I’ve booked the dates and location! Check out the video to find out more….. or just read below!

Due to time pressures, I’ve taken the call to go ahead and book a location/dates. This is a risk on my behalf, but I’m comfortable with it. I said I was going to commit to dates and locations last year, and I’ve just not prioritised it highly enough – and for that I’m sorry!

Warren Buffet also spoke to me in my dreams last night and said “If you book it, they’ll come“. So I’ve decided to take his advice, grab the bull by the horns, take a leap of faith, and just book it!

On a more serious note, I’ve organised a few of these weekends now and having worked through your previous feedback, I believe I have a good sense of what people are looking for overall. I know that I’ll never make everyone happy, nor am I attempting to. My goal is to try and expand on the previous weekends, and make the next one as enjoyable and rich as possible.

The one area I haven’t been able to fulfill is public transport. I’m willing to work through this issue by offering lifts to people that can get to Welshpool by train. The house is only 3-4 miles away.

Check out the details below and let me know if you’re interested!

Venue: Gaer Hall, Guilsfield, Welshpool, Powys.

Date: 18-20th March 2016

Cost: ยฃ600 (all in for 2 nights)

Details: It sleeps up to 14 people, which are divided among 8 separate room. There’s plenty of wide open space in the house itself and outside in the grounds. Click on the link below to check out more details.

If you’re interested in coming along, please contact me via Youtube or at my Blog on the contact form, providing how many will be attending with you, whether you’re stopping over, how long you plan on staying, and any other details you think are relevant.

If you’re unsure about whether or not to come along, please check out my Blog for previous comments from attendees and see if that helps you decide.

As the people who are committing to sleeping over are helping this thing go ahead, I’ll ask all day guests to contribute towards the cost of the weekend. Last time I suggested a figure around the ยฃ20-30, and I’m happy to discuss payments above or below that if you think it warrants it. I will pass all monies back onto the people that stop over to make it as cheap as possible for them, as they make the weekend happen. ZERO profits are made from the weekends!

FIRE Escape – Summer & Autumn 2016?

I received a request on my Blog to announce the dates for the summer and autumn in advance so people can plan around it. I’m happy to set some dates to work towards, however, I’m not prepared to pay for the accommodation myself this far in advance. Therefore, I would review what options are remaining on those specific dates 2-3 months prior and book whatever’s left. This will mean that location might have to go out of the window (ie. down south, up north, London etc) and I’ll have to opt for what’s left for the dates.

Or

Would you prefer we keep things as they are? One at a time, dates and location decided 2-3 months before?

I’m comfortable with both approaches, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Count me in for 18-20th March. Unfortunately it will just be me as Alison will be on her jollys touring America.

As far as future dates and venues are concerned, I am easy, if you want some money up front i.e. now for the next 2 meets then I am willing to make those payments. Location wise I don't mind, anywhere is fine with me as I treat them as mini holidays.

Thanks for sorting all this out it is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Huw,

I have never been but would like to attend this one maybe as a day trip. On the south coast so fair trek but think be worth the trip. Would I be able to just turn up and pay on the day?

    Regards

    Kevin

    Hi Huw

Thanks for sorting this and putting it out there!

I can't confirm for definite just yet but I'm a 'probable' for one night (likely to be Saturday). I just have a possible clash on that weekend, so need to see if I can reschedule. I will let you know. Please drop me a note when you really need to know definite numbers.

    Location looks great, cheers!

    Hi Richard,

Good and bad news there. So pleased that you can make it this time, but Lou and I are gutted Alison won't be there!

Thank you for your flexibility and offer on the money side of things for this FIRE Escape and the future ones. It makes life a lot easier for me and I appreciate it! I have your email so I will be in touch once I have a better idea of numbers.

Thanks also for your feedback on location. I think you and I are on the same wavelength. Lou and I treat them as holidays and I don't really care where they are. It's about the people for us.

    You're welcome and thanks again!

    Hi Weenie,

I'll keep me fingers crossed for you. I really hope you can make it!

I have you email also, so I can drop you a note, and in turn you can email me direct either way once you know.

I'm glad you like the location! It looks lovely doesn't it!

    Hey Kevin!

EEK. Yes, that is a bit of a trek isn't it. For what it's worth, I travelled 5 hours to York, and another couple travelled 7 hours to attend a previous one, and both of us did not regret the journey. Not that I can guarantee the same exceptional experience….. but I'm confident that you'll have a good time.

    Hope you can make it!

    Hey Huw, I'm in.

Just to reiterate for people thinking about it that I went to the York Fire Escape alone and had a brilliant time, everyone is so friendly.

I'll be driving from Cambridgeshire (an hour from Kings Cross) via Kettering and Coventry; happy to offer a lift to anyone en route.

For future Fire Escapes I'd prefer to have dates in the diary earlier, and happy to either pay up or be open to location. Massive thank you for the effort you put into sorting these out.

    Cheers,

    Emma Playing with Fire

If I happen to be in UK one of these days and happen to be the same time as these FIRE escapes, I'll definitely have to come. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Huw,

I was thinking about the York meet (which I couldn't make) the other day after re-reading all the great reviews and began to think about a 2016 meet (that maybe I could make) luckily this is one of them and I'd absolutely love to come along!

I'm going to be bringing my partner Helen if that's okay? – We'd be totally up for staying the letting you've found (which looks beautiful btw) but if there's not enough space we'll get somewhere else local.

    Thanks,

    Cora.

    Hi Cora,

    Great news!!

You and Helen are very welcome, and I base it on a first come first served, so as far as I'm concerned, you're in!

I've just seen your email from Sumo ME. Thanks for that!

I'll be in touch soon with details on costs for the stopover.

I'm looking forward to meeting you both. Thanks for joining us.

Great news M. I had assumed you wouldn't make it because of the little one.

It won't be weird for me. No pressure either way.

It would be great to see you all again, but totally understand your circumstances.

    Take care and speak soon

    Hi Huw,

Gutted we can't make this one, the cottage looks fantastic (and obviously we miss out on seeing you lot as well… haha!)

Mrs T is due to drop on the 26th March so it's a bit close for comfort to say the least ๐Ÿ™‚

Hopefully we can attend at least one this year, probably be the Autumn one if I'm perfectly honest, or if there are any that are a bit nearer the South East we'd definitely come for at least the day and introduce you to TFS Junior.

Cheers and well done on another brilliant job organising this.

    Hi TFS,

Yeah, it's a shame you can't make it but completely understand! That would be cutting it a little close to the wire.

I hope you see you and TFS Jr at one of the other FIRE Escapes this year!

    Cheers
    Huw
